KKCRA Men’s Conference Inspires Attendees to Embrace Family Leadership and Responsibility
KKCRA MEN’S CONFERENCE CALLS FOR STRONG FAMILY LEADERSHIP, ELECTS MEN'S GUILD LEADERSHIP
Today, the Kigezi Kampala Catholic Residents Association (KKCRA) hosted an impactful Men’s Conference at St Augustine Institute Nsambya, centered on the powerful theme: “Men at the Threshold in Family Matters and Taking Our Place as Men in the Family.” The event brought together men from across parishes with the goal of empowering them to embrace their roles in building strong families and fostering responsible leadership within the home and community.
The day began with a reflective session facilitated by Mr. Okello, a highly respected speaker on family matters, who set a warm and welcoming tone. Mr. Okello encouraged participants to write down their expectations for the day, helping each man focus on what he hoped to gain from the conference. Many expressed hopes for guidance in balancing work and family life, improving communication with their families, and strengthening their roles as spiritual leaders at home.
The conference then shifted into group discussions, where men engaged in honest and meaningful conversations about what it means to “take their place” in the family. With Mr. Okello's guidance, they explored topics like fatherhood, marriage, and what it means to be a present and emotionally available partner. Participants openly shared personal stories and struggles, learning from each other’s experiences and insights.
The theme of selflessness came up frequently in the discussions. Mr. Okello reminded the men that true leadership in the family requires self-sacrifice and a willingness to ensure everyone’s well-being, not just their own. He urged participants not to enjoy “good things” alone but to remember their families at home. This message resonated deeply, with many expressing a commitment to involve their families more actively in their lives and prioritize their loved ones’ needs.
In a significant move for KKCRA, the men took the opportunity to elect first leaders for the Men’s Guild, forming a team committed to fostering unity, support, and growth among members.
Charles Atuhe from Nyakishenyi Parish was elected as the Chairman of the Men’s Guild. His commitment to service and strong community ties make him a natural choice to lead. George Tushabomwe from Rubanda Parish was chosen as Vice Chairman, bringing valuable leadership experience. Agaba Moses from Kamwezi Parish was elected Treasurer, responsible for overseeing the guild’s financial health, while Twinamasiko Benius from Kakore Parish was appointed Secretary, tasked with managing communications and documentation.
This team will work together to create initiatives that support and uplift men within KKCRA and beyond.
The day concluded with a solemn and inspiring Mass led by KKCRA’s caretaker priest, Rev. Fr. Benedict Mubangizi. During his homily, Fr. Mubangizi called on the men to fully embrace their roles and responsibilities within their families. He emphasized the importance of being moral leaders and dependable guides for their loved ones. He reminded the men that their families rely on them for both spiritual and emotional support, and that a man’s presence and example can shape the strength of his family.
Fr. Mubangizi’s words left a lasting impact, instilling a sense of duty and encouragement in all who attended.
A Day of Purpose and Renewal The Men’s Conference was a resounding success, offering participants fresh perspectives, meaningful connections, and renewed dedication to their families. As they left, attendees expressed gratitude for the day’s discussions and spiritual reflections. Many looked forward to implementing the insights gained, pledging to be more present, supportive, and compassionate leaders within their homes.
With a strong new leadership team and a shared mission, the KKCRA Men’s Guild stands ready to support and guide men on this important journey. Today’s conference was more than a gathering; it was a step forward in building resilient families and communities, with each man committed to fulfilling his role at the threshold of family and faith.
