Thanksgiving for Chief Justice Flavian Zeija to Double as Fundraising Drive for St. Mary’s College Rushoroza Dining Project
 Old students of St. Mary’s College Rushoroza are rallying together to mobilise resources for the completion of the school’s new dining project, in a renewed demonstration of their commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped generations of students.

The initiative will be officially strengthened during a special Thanksgiving celebration for the appointment of Chief Justice Flavian Zeija, the Patron of the St. Mary’s College Rushoroza Old Students Association.
The thanksgiving and fundraising function is scheduled for Sunday, 18 October 2026, at St. Mary’s College Rushoroza.
The event will bring together old students, school administrators, students, parents, friends, well-wishers and other members of the Rushoroza community to celebrate Chief Justice Zeija’s appointment while also supporting a project that is expected to improve the school’s facilities and learning environment.

For the old students, the October gathering is more than a thanksgiving ceremony. It is an opportunity to transform celebration into tangible support for the school.
The new dining project was initiated by the old students as part of their efforts to contribute to the continued development of St. Mary’s College Rushoroza. However, like many major institutional projects, its completion requires sustained financial support.
The association has therefore launched a fundraising drive aimed at mobilising contributions from the wider Rushoroza family.
The funds raised through the thanksgiving initiative will go towards the completion of the new dining project, giving old students and other stakeholders an opportunity to directly participate in a development project at their former school.

The initiative is rooted in the spirit of giving back.
For many former students, St. Mary’s College Rushoroza was more than a place of academic instruction. It was a place where friendships were formed, discipline was nurtured, talents were discovered and foundations for future careers were laid.
The old students' association believes that maintaining that connection with the school requires more than nostalgia. It also calls for practical interventions that benefit current and future students.

The dining project is therefore being positioned as a collective legacy project — one in which former students can leave behind a physical contribution that will continue serving generations of learners.
Merchant Code Launched for Contributions
To make it easier for old students, parents, friends and well-wishers to participate, the association is launching a contribution merchant code through which financial support can be channelled towards the project.

The merchant code is expected to provide a convenient way for people who may not be able to attend the October 18 function physically to contribute to the completion of the dining project.
The association is calling upon members of the Rushoroza family to embrace the initiative and contribute according to their ability.
Every contribution, regardless of size, will form part of the collective effort to bring the project to completion.

At the centre of the October celebration will be Chief Justice Flavian Zeija, Patron of the St. Mary’s College Rushoroza Old Students Association.
His appointment to the position of Chief Justice provides an important occasion for the Smaco community to come together in thanksgiving and recognition.

The celebration will also provide an opportunity for old students to reflect on the values and foundations that St. Mary’s College Rushoroza has instilled in its students over the years.
The association sees the thanksgiving as a moment of gratitude, fellowship and renewed commitment to the institution.
Rather than simply marking an individual's achievement, the occasion will also bring together a community with a shared history and a common interest in the future of their school.

The dining project comes at a time when schools across the country continue to invest in infrastructure capable of supporting growing student populations and improving the overall school environment.
For St. Mary’s College Rushoroza, completing the new dining facility would represent another important step in strengthening the school's infrastructure.
The facility is expected to provide a better environment for students during meal times and contribute to the school's broader infrastructure development.
For the old students, however, the project carries a deeper meaning.
It represents a simple message to current students: those who came before you have not forgotten you.
It is also an invitation to today's students to imagine themselves returning to the school in the future and contributing to its development.

As preparations for the October celebration gather momentum, the Old Students Association is calling upon all former students, parents, friends of the school, corporate partners and well-wishers to join the drive.
The association is encouraging old students to mobilise their classmates, year groups and networks so that the fundraising campaign becomes a collective effort.
The target is not simply to raise money during one event, but to build sustained momentum towards completing the project.
Those unable to attend the thanksgiving physically will still have an opportunity to participate through the contribution merchant code.


On 18 October 2026, the gates of St. Mary’s College Rushoroza will welcome members of a community united by history, gratitude and a shared vision for the future.
There will be thanksgiving for Chief Justice Flavian Zeija, fellowship among old students and friends of the school, and a renewed fundraising push for the new dining project.
It will be a day to celebrate achievement — but also a day to turn celebration into development.
For the Old Students Association, the message is clear:
Celebrate the achievement. Give thanks for the journey. Then give back to the school.
The completion of the new dining project will depend on the collective commitment of the Rushoroza family.
And with the October 18 celebration providing the platform, old students are now calling upon everyone connected to St. Mary’s College Rushoroza to join the drive and help bring the project to completion.
