KKCRA Fundraising Raises Shs 358.18 both in cash and pledges 
KAMPALA — Kigezi Kampala Catholics Residents Association (KKCRA) has raised Shs358.18 million towards the Episcopal Ordination and Installation of Bishop-elect Msgr. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire, M.Afr., with Finance Minister and KKCRA member Hon. Henry Ariganyira Musaasizi adding Shs30 million to the fundraising drive.
The additional contribution brings the announced cash collection to Shs358.18 million.

Musaasizi was the Chief Guest at the KKCRA fundraising dinner held at Marriott Hotel, Nsambya, where Catholics and leaders from the Kigezi community gathered to mobilise support for the historic Episcopal Ordination of Msgr. Gubazire, who is set to become the fifth Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
The fundraising brought together several Members of Parliament from the Kigezi region, members of the Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province Association, members of the Kigezi Kampala Fellowship, KKCRA members and other well-wishers.
Addressing the gathering, Musaasizi congratulated KKCRA for the preparations and mobilisation undertaken towards the Episcopal Ordination, describing the occasion as an important moment for the Catholic community in Kigezi.
He explained that he had sought permission from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to attend the fundraising dinner and said he was also representing Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, who was away in Germany on a special assignment representing the President.
Musaasizi disclosed that Hon  Tayebwa the Deputy Speaker of Parliament had earlier contributed Shs50 million towards the consecration of the Bishop-elect.
The Minister also told the gathering that he had met Speaker of Parliament Hon. Jacob Markson Oboth-Oboth, and that Shs100 million had been authorised towards the function, according to his announcement at the dinner.

Musaasizi subsequently announced his own Shs30 million contribution, giving further momentum to the fundraising campaign.

Police offers national-functions tent
The Minister also announced logistical support from the Uganda Police.
He said the Inspector General of Police had offered a large tent normally used during national functions for the Episcopal Ordination ceremony.
According to Musaasizi, the Uganda Police will transport the tent from Kampala to Kabale to support the celebrations.
He thanked all individuals, organisations and groups that had contributed towards the preparations, noting the strong response from the Kigezi community.
President expected to hand over new vehicle.

Musaasizi further announced that preparations for the Episcopal Ordination had been discussed with the President.
He told the gathering that President Museveni is expected to hand over a brand-new vehicle to the incoming Bishop during the celebrations.
The announcement comes as stakeholders intensify preparations for the October ceremony, which is expected to attract clergy, religious leaders, government officials, Catholic faithful and other dignitaries.
Kabale Diocese prepares for new Bishop
The Episcopal Ordination and Installation of Msgr. Gubazire is scheduled for October 3, 2026, at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale, according to the official Kabale Diocese.

Pope Leo XIV appointed Msgr. Gubazire as Bishop of Kabale Diocese on July 15, 2026, succeeding Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, who retired after serving as Bishop of Kabale for 23 years. Bishop Rubaramira is currently serving as Apostolic Administrator until the new Bishop takes canonical possession of the Diocese. 

Msgr. Gubazire, a member of the Missionaries of Africa, was born in Kitumba in Kabale Diocese and was ordained a priest at Rushoroza Cathedral on August 10, 2003. He has since served in pastoral, academic and formation roles in several countries, including Mozambique, Malawi, France, Ireland, the Philippines.

The KKCRA fundraising dinner therefore marks a significant stage in the wider mobilisation for the historic transition in the leadership of Kabale Diocese, with the Kigezi community in Kampala rallying behind the new Bishop.
With Shs328.18 million already announced and an additional Shs30 million from Hon. Musaasizi, the fundraising now stands at Shs358.18 million in announced cash contributions, as stakeholders look ahead to the Episcopal Ordination and Installation on October 3rd.
