 'Put God First Before Time Runs Out' – Fr. Alexander Muhumuza Delivers Powerful Message at Sarah's Burial Mass.

KABALE, Uganda – Mourners gathered at Christ the King Parish in Kabale were challenged to reflect on the purpose of life and the certainty of death as Rev. Fr. Alexander Muhumuza delivered a moving homily during the Funeral Mass of the late Sarah, remembered as a beautiful, hardworking and loving woman whose life touched many.

Preaching from the Beatitudes, Fr. Muhumuza reminded the congregation that death is an unavoidable reality that often finds humanity unprepared.

"Sometimes we forget that this life has an end. We should thank God while we are still alive and use the opportunity to live according to His will," he said.

The priest urged Christians to embrace obedience to God rather than becoming consumed by the temporary attractions of the world. He warned that knowledge, wealth and success lose their value when they are used to manipulate others instead of serving God and humanity.

"We have become so busy chasing earthly things that we forget our eternal destination. Our wisdom should bring us closer to God, not distance us from Him," he observed.

Fr. Muhumuza paid tribute to Sarah's husband, Alex, commending him for standing by and caring for his wife throughout her illness. He challenged men and families to uphold faithfulness and dignity in marriage.

"The love and care you wish someone would show your own child should be the same love you extend to your spouse. Do not love the child while neglecting or hating the parent," he said, drawing heartfelt applause from the congregation.

He further reminded mourners that death does not discriminate.

"Death knows no religion. It comes to everyone. That is why we must be kind, care for the sick, support one another and live in peace."

Reflecting on Christ's words, "Blessed are those who mourn" and "Blessed are the poor," Fr. Muhumuza explained that true blessing belongs to those who place their hope in God despite suffering and hardship. He encouraged the faithful not to lose heart during moments of grief, assuring them that God remains present even in sorrow.

In a call for spiritual commitment, the priest emphasised the importance of belonging to the Church.

"Just as every Ugandan has a National Identity Card, every Catholic should value their baptism and know where they belong spiritually," he remarked, encouraging Christians to remain active in their faith communities.

He also encouraged every Christian to have trusted people who nurture both their spiritual and physical well-being.

"Have a spiritual director. Have a priest or spiritual guide you can call when your faith is weak. At the same time, have your doctor's contact. We must care for both our souls and our bodies."

Fr. Muhumuza expressed gratitude to Rev. Fr. Bruno, describing him as the spiritual director of Sarah's family and acknowledging his role in accompanying them through their journey of faith.

To illustrate the unpredictability of death, the priest narrated a thought-provoking story of people who attempted to defeat death by blinding it instead of destroying it. Once blind, death could no longer distinguish between the young and the old, taking lives without regard to age.

"The lesson is simple," he concluded. "None of us knows when our time will come. Let us therefore put God first, live righteous lives, and always be prepared to meet Him."

As the Funeral Mass came to a close, Fr. Muhumuza invited the faithful to pray for the eternal repose of Sarah's soul, asking God to grant her everlasting peace while strengthening all who continue to mourn her loss.

The homily served as a reminder that while earthly life is temporary, a life rooted in faith, love and service to God prepares believers for eternity.

The life of Sarah Beinomugisha Tumwijukye was a remarkable testimony of resilience, faith, hard work, and selfless service. Born on 13 August 1985 in Bushenyi, Ishaka, Uganda, and raised in Zzana, Sarah grew into a woman whose influence extended far beyond her family, touching the lives of colleagues, friends, and the wider community through her compassion and entrepreneurial spirit.

Her educational journey began at Kanyamurera Primary School, followed by Lugazi Secondary School for her Ordinary Level studies. She later attended Kyaddondo Secondary School for Advanced Level before earning a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) from Makerere University. Her academic background laid the foundation for an outstanding career in business.

In 2005, Sarah ventured into entrepreneurship with determination and a clear vision. She became a respected business leader, serving as Co-founder and Director of Imara Hotel, while also playing a significant role in the growth of Bainex Enterprises, Bainex Beddings, and D1 Beddings. Her dedication, integrity, and commitment to excellence earned her admiration from business associates and employees alike. She believed that success was not measured by wealth alone but by the positive impact one leaves in the lives of others.

Beyond her professional achievements, Sarah was a devoted wife to Alex Tumwijukye and a loving mother to five children: Alvin (18), Aliana (13), Abisha (11), Adrian (6), and Adonai (3). Family remained at the centre of her life, and she was known for nurturing her children with love, discipline, and unwavering care. Friends and relatives remember her as a pillar of strength whose kindness, humility, and generosity inspired everyone around her.

Those who knew Sarah describe her as a woman of deep faith who approached life's challenges with courage and hope. Whether in business, family, or community service, she consistently placed the needs of others before her own. Her cheerful spirit, resilience, and willingness to lend a helping hand made her a trusted friend and mentor to many.

Although her passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her loved ones, Sarah's legacy continues to live on through the values she embodied—love, service, faith, hard work, and compassion. Her life serves as an enduring reminder that true greatness is found not only in personal success but also in the lives one uplifts along the journey.
