FR. ALEX AKANKWASA URGES CHRISTIANS TO LIVE THE LIGHT OF THE RISEN CHRIST WITH FAITH, PRAYER, AND DAILY COMMITMENT

HOMILY CALLS FOR DEEP FAITH AND DAILY COMMITMENT AMONG CHRISTIANS
Kyanamira Parish, Kabale Diocese — 3rd Sunday of Easter
Christians at St. Francis of Assisi, Kyanamira Parish, were urged to renew their faith and live with greater purpose during a moving homily delivered by Rev. Fr. Alex Akankwasa (M.Afr) on the Third Sunday of Easter.

Addressing the congregation, Fr. Alex emphasized the importance of spiritual awareness and personal responsibility in the Christian journey. He called on believers to remain committed in their families, active in the Church, and guided by strong moral character. According to him, such commitment enables Christians to reflect the light of Christ, who sacrificed His life for humanity.

Drawing from the message of the Easter season, Fr. Alex reminded the faithful that the risen Jesus Christ remains a source of hope, peace, and direction. He encouraged Christians to embrace this light in their daily lives and to share the peace that Christ offered to His disciples after the resurrection.
“Let Christ walk with you in every step of your life,” he said, urging believers to remain steadfast even in the face of life’s challenges.
The priest also highlighted prayer as a vital part of daily living. He described prayer as the “key” that opens each new day and safely closes it at night, encouraging Christians to maintain constant communication with God.
In his concluding remarks, Fr. Alex called for unity among believers and stressed the importance of remaining in communion through the Holy Eucharist, which he described as a source of spiritual strength and protection.
Fr. Alex Akankwasa is a member of the Missionaries of Africa, a Catholic missionary congregation widely known as the White Fathers. Originally from Mbarara Archdiocese, he is currently serving in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His visit to Kyanamira Parish highlighted the spirit of collaboration among priests serving in the Kabale Diocese.
The homily left many faithful encouraged and spiritually renewed, with a clear message: faith must be lived daily, nurtured through prayer, and strengthened in unity.
