St. Francis Catholic Parish Kyanamira Constitutes Kampala Leadership Team
KAMPALA, UGANDA – September 28, 2025
In a historic step towards strengthening parish identity and community bonds, parishioners of the newly established St. Francis Catholic Parish, Kyanamira, residing in Greater Kampala, have elected their maiden leadership team to coordinate activities in the capital.
The election follows the recent creation of Kyanamira Parish, carved out to meet the pastoral needs of a growing Catholic community in Kabale Diocese. With many Christians from the parish living and working in Kampala, the new leadership structure is designed to keep them spiritually, culturally, and socially connected to their home parish.
Eng. Alex Rubarema was chosen as the Parish Coordinator for Kampala, tasked with providing overall leadership and mobilizing parishioners for both religious and development initiatives.
Other leaders elected to head various centers and offices include:
Daniel Tumwekwase – Coordinator, Kacuro Centre
Evas Rwangoga – Coordinator, Kyanamira Centre
Joseph Ndemere – Coordinator, Muyumbu Centre
Davis Owomugisha – Head of Public Relations and Communications
Sr. Prossy Naturinda – Head of Liturgy
Members emphasized that the new leadership will not only serve as a unifying body for Kyanamira parishioners in Kampala but also as a bridge of collaboration between the diaspora (KKCRA ) and the parish back home.
The leadership has pledged to focus on spiritual growth, coordination of liturgical activities, promotion of cultural identity, and support towards parish projects in Kyanamira.
The establishment of these structures underscores the broader mission of the Catholic Church to build vibrant faith communities, wherever the faithful reside.
