Rukiga District Launches Kabale Diocese BAAF 2024, Raising Over 180 Million Shillings.
Today, faithful gathered at St. Mark Kamwezi Catholic Parish in Rukiga District to mark a historic beginning for the Kabale Diocese BAAF 2024 fundraiser, which will extend across all districts of Kigezi and Kampala. The event successfully raised over 180 million shillings, setting a powerful tone for the fundraiser’s rollout across the region.
The day was marked by the impassioned words of Bishop Callistus Rubaramira, who called upon Christians to deepen their faith through service, unity, and the nurturing of their God-given talents.
In his address, Bishop Rubaramira highlighted the value of using one’s gifts to uplift others, comparing these gifts to those bestowed upon the disciples during Pentecost. “Each of us is blessed uniquely, with talents that can bring glory to Jesus Christ and support those around us,” he remarked. He urged the faithful to avoid envy, choosing instead to celebrate one another’s successes and encouraging a spirit of generosity and community.
Bishop Rubaramira emphasized that developing and sharing these talents strengthens the community and is a powerful form of worship. “In supporting and encouraging one another, we bring the love of Christ into our lives and contribute to the fulfillment of God’s work here on Earth,” he added.
In addition to Bishop Rubaramira’s message, Rubanda District Woman MP, Prossy Akampurira Begumisa Mbabazi, reminded parishioners of the importance of government initiatives like the Parish Development Model (PDM), encouraging them to use these resources responsibly to foster household and community growth.
Counsel Patrick Katabaazi, a hopeful for the Rukiga 2026–2031 parliamentary seat, contributed 70 million shillings to the fundraiser and underscored the role of education and healthcare as pillars of a prosperous future.
The event closed with a total of 181,784,700 shillings raised, a powerful testament to the spirit of unity and support within the Catholic community in Rukiga. Bishop Rubaramira’s heartfelt message of service and the responsible use of gifts resonated with attendees, reminding them of the strength that lies in faith-driven community work.
